Google Redesigned 0.5 Release

Globex Designs, Inc is happy to announce the release of Google Redesigned 0.5 - the next version of our popular Firefox extension. In this version we are making GDocs Redesigned (our Google Documents style) available to all users. Furthermore, version 0.5 now comes with the latest update to our Gmail Redesigned style - version 4.0.

Gmail Redesigned 4.0 has been reworked from the ground-up to improve performance, usability and overall look. In this latest version we have used the latest CSS 3 technology to reduce dependency on heavy image content.

Google Redesigned 0.5 also no longer loads any images from our server which allows Google Redesigned styles to be compatible with SSL security. You should no longer see any unauthenticated content warnings when using our styles.

Lastly, we’ve added support for Thunderbird 3. However, in order to allow our styles to move forward and rely on the best CSS practices we’ve had to move our minimum version requirements to Firefox 3.6. Google Redesigned will no longer support older versions of Firefox.

We are already working on the next version of Google Redesigned which will introduce a brand new style - GSearch Redesigned which will redesign the look of Google Search in the same look and feel as our other styles.

We are still working on porting Google Redesigned to Google Chrome. We should have more updates for you before Fall.

Introducing the CSS Compressor

It's been almost 2 years since we started work on our feature product - the Google Redesigned Firefox extension to the public. Our extension loads a series of CSS files to redesign the look of popular Google services. Since then we've taken many steps in improving the load speed and performance of those styles. In order to achieve these improvements we've been using an internal CSS compressor to optimize our CSS files. Unlike other CSS compressors, we designed our own CSS compressor specifically for userstyles in order to prevent conflicts and retention of hierarchies in CSS rules. In our tests we were often able to reduce file sizes by as much as 60% and we're constantly finding ways to further refine the compression algorithms. We thought we should share this compression technology with the world.

Today Globex Designs, Inc. is proud to announce the beta release of our new CSS Compressor product. The CSS Compressor is open to all users who are looking for a reliable and powerful way to minify CSS code. The compressed code results in faster loading websites for users and less bandwidth consumption for servers.

We hope you'll try out the product and let us know what you think on our company forums. We have many plans for further refinements to the compressor which we will be pushing out over the next months, and we hope the CSS Compressor will prove to be a valuable resource for the web development community.

Google Redesigned 0.4 Release

Globex Designs, Inc. is proud to introduce the next edition of our popular Google Redesigned Firefox extension - version 0.4. In this version we're happy to introduce the new GDocs Redesigned style for Google Documents. This style is now available for beta testing to our Supporter group. You'll notice in the new extension the ability to login with your Globex Designs account to get access to the new style when you click on the GR icon in the bottom right corner of your browser.

If you're not already a member of our Supporters group, please go to http://www.globexdesigns.com/products/gr and send us a small donation. We'll email you back with instructions on how to join the Supporters group. Your continued support is greatly appreciated and we wouldn't be able to continue providing updates without it.

We've continued to improve the performance of all our styles and in version 0.4 we have added support for file compression which means that updating and using styles should be much faster. On some machines, we've noticed performance improvements over 200%. If you had been reluctant to use our extension before because it was slowing down your browsing experience, this is a great time to upgrade.

This version also patches issues for Mozilla Prism users, as well as adds the ability to add the Google Redesigned options to the Tools menu. You can enable this by going to the extension's Options.

You can download version 0.4 today from our website at http://www.globexdesigns.com/products/gr or later in the month from the Mozilla Addons website once it is approved by the editors.

Globex Designs Website Upgrade

It's an exciting time for us here at Globex Designs as we prepare to release a major upgrade to our website. We will be shutting down our servers temporarily on August 27, 2009 between 11:00 and 16:00 (PST) for the upgrade. During this time you will not be able to access the website, or receive upgrades for Google Redesigned styles.

GReader Redesigned Hits Version 1

After months of work, we are pleased to release GReader Redesigned version 1.0.0 as part of our Google Redesigned suite. This release marks the first stable, and complete version of GReader Redesigned and we hope that it will address the majority of issues our users have been having. GReader Redesigned comes packaged as part of our Google Redesigned extension. If you are a Google Redesigned user, you will automatically be updated to the new version the next time you launch your browser or within the 24 hour update period.

Version 1.0.0 received a similar optimization as the Gmail Redesigned 3.0.0 and GCal Redesigned 2.0.0 updates.

Google Redesigned 0.3.5

Today we're releasing Google Redesigned 0.3.5 which addresses the auto-update feature which broke when Firefox 3.5 final was released. If you downloaded the extensions from Globex Designs you will be notified of the update next time you launch Firefox, or you can grab the new update directly from http://www.globexdesigns.com/gr

For those of you using Google Redesigned from the Mozilla Add-ons website, we are still awaiting review, but the patch update should appear up there within the week as well.

Gcal Redesigned Hits the 2.0 Milestone

Today, we are releasing Gcal Redesigned version 2.0. This is a follow up from the Gmail Redesigned 3.0 update. Gcal Redesigned continues the latest trend of consistency across all the Google Redesigned styles.

Version 2.0 has been reworked from the ground up and optimized to increase performance and contrast.

Earlier today we also released an update to the Google Redesigned extension (version 3.0) which adds support for the new Firefox 3.5 browser. A big thank you to all our Supporter group testers for helping beta test this version.

Gmail Redesigned Hits Version 3

Today we are thrilled to announce the release of Gmail Redesigned version 3.0.0. Gmail Redesigned comes packaged as part of our Google Redesigned extension. If you are a Google Redesigned user, you will automatically be updated to the new version the next time you launch your browser or within the 24 hour update period.

Version 3 has been reworked from the group-up. Our focus for this version was optimization, consistency and user requests. We've received over 200 emails, reviews and comments, and we've made notes about all your feature requests. The first thing you'll notice in this version is that the vertical space has been significantly reduced, which allows more content to fill up screen. This was one of the most popular requests we're heard from you.

This new version also introduces full support for the Older Version of Gmail. You can now enjoy the design of Gmail Redesigned while using the fast, older version of Google Mail. As well, we're also adding support for the new Google Contacts service. It is also part of the Gmail Redesigned style.

Under the hood, version 3 is nearly half the file size of its predecessor making it nearly twice as fast-loading. How are we able to make sure drastic reductions in size while adding so many new features? The biggest factor was the unification of many of the interface elements and further improvements of our compression algorithms. This month our Google Redesigned extension reached 25,000 active daily users. We believe this is a major milestone considering only a year ago an alpha version of the Gmail Redesigned style was only seen on one computer - one of ours here.

Google Redesigned status and upcoming projects

Great news! Our Google Redesigned extension has now been officially approved by a Mozilla reviewer and is available to the public from the Add-ons website. We'd like to thank all of the people that have helped us develop this extension over the last year. Your reviews and comments are truly appreciated.

We've got a lot of great things planned here at Globex Designs, Inc and the next few months are going to be packed with great new products, services and other various releases. We've been working really hard to the next version of Redesigned scripts which will add greater flexibility, improve speed and add more features. As well as the next Google service redesigned - GDocs Redesigned. If you're a member of our Supporters group, keep an eye out on the forums. We'll be releasing this update soon.

As well, we've been developing a brand new website which will make it much easier to receive updates about our projects and services. We hope to have that ready in the summer time.

Google Redesigned Extension Version 0.2 Leaves Beta

Today we've release our latest update to the Google Redesigned extension (version 0.2) to the public. Version 0.2 has graduated from our beta testers and is now available for everyone. Firefox should automatically inform you of the update shortly, or you can grab the update directly from http://www.globexdesigns.com/gr

Version 0.2 introduces the long-awaited GReader Redesigned style which adds the popular Redesigned look to the Google Reader service. As well, version 0.2 has a revamped automatic update algorithm which should help make the extension speedier than ever.

Support For Status Bar Icon Hide (activated in the add-on options dialog)

Server Downtime

We would like to apologize for the rather long period of time during which our website and update server have been down. We believe the issue should now be resolved and we have taken measures to ensure that this does not happen again.

There was an infection on one of our machines which has caused the loss of some data. Unfortunately some posts made on the forums and in the bug tracker in the last few weeks have been lost.

Broken Images Resolved for Google Redesigned styles

Some of you may have noticed that images fail to load when using the Google Redesigned styles. We have now resolved the issue and if you are using our Google Redesigned extension, all the images are now built right into the style.

So if it so happens that our servers are unavailable at the time, all the styles should still work correctly.

We're sorry for any inconvenience these issues may have caused before.

New Issue Tracking System

Google Redesigned Extension Launch

Today Globex Designs is proud to introduce a brand new product - Google Redesigned - a brand new Firefox extension to manage all our Google Redesigned styles. Yes, you heard right, Gmail Redesigned and Gcal Redesigned are now available in a stand-alone Firefox extension.

This means you no longer need to manually run updates for styles, sort through CSS code and copy/paste changes. It also means we are no longer dependent on the Stylish add-on, so you can easily create Gmail Redesigned customizations by creating you own userstyles inside of Stylish and not worry about conflicts. It also means that you'll receive instant notifications when new style updates are released, and what's more - they'll be installed for you automatically. And of course, it also means more speed improvements, as we now load all the styles on your local machine.

As well, those of you who have been checking the forums and the website for information about upcoming Google Redesigned projects such as the Greader Redesigned script will now automatically receive the extension update when new styles are released.

Google Calendar Redesigned Released For Public Beta

I would like to take the time to personally thank everyone that has downloaded, tried and used the style and give a special shout out to everyone that has submitted bug reports, sent in donations and posted comments on the forums.
