Today we are thrilled to announce the release of Gmail Redesigned version 3.0.0. Gmail Redesigned comes packaged as part of our Google Redesigned extension. If you are a Google Redesigned user, you will automatically be updated to the new version the next time you launch your browser or within the 24 hour update period.

Posted Image Version 3 has been reworked from the group-up. Our focus for this version was optimization, consistency and user requests. We've received over 200 emails, reviews and comments, and we've made notes about all your feature requests. The first thing you'll notice in this version is that the vertical space has been significantly reduced, which allows more content to fill up screen. This was one of the most popular requests we're heard from you.

This new version also introduces full support for the Older Version of Gmail. You can now enjoy the design of Gmail Redesigned while using the fast, older version of Google Mail. As well, we're also adding support for the new Google Contacts service. It is also part of the Gmail Redesigned style.

Under the hood, version 3 is nearly half the file size of its predecessor making it nearly twice as fast-loading. How are we able to make sure drastic reductions in size while adding so many new features? The biggest factor was the unification of many of the interface elements and further improvements of our compression algorithms. If you're interested in finding out more about our CSS compression, keep an eye out on our website as we will be releasing a brand new product called - CSS Compressor.

We hope you enjoy the new version, and as always let us know what you think on our forums. We love to hear from you.

Thank you,

spiser, you need to make sure you've set your Gmail Theme to "Default" in the Gmail settings.

Looks great to me! The only thing I would say is the top banner is a little tight on the logo, but apart from that it looks excellent.

Thanks for all the hard work :D

It's the same for me, the background of the inbox or when composing or replying, all is white, so they are the buttons when composing/replying. Is that OK? If so, I think previous version looked prettier (acostumed to it?)

All interior pages are now using a white background similar to the way email view was done in the previous version.

Looks great! I really like the new look, especially since it's now compatible with the Remember the Milk addon again. This update DOES appear faster than the old, so thank you very much!!

The only thing that I would like to see changed is the font selected for the the Remember the Milk addon. When I hover over an item, the font size in the box is very large. I would like to see the size decreased a bit.

Also, it breaks compatibility with Folders4Gmail. The folder icons are now missing. Posted Image

Ok, that's it. Just little details, no big issues...this is sure a big step up from where it was. Keep it up! :)

The dark background for composing messages was much better.

I agree, one of the major reasons for adopting Google Redesigned was it's not as harmful for my eyes (because of the default white bright screen); the new look in v3 is a step backwards.

Thanks anyway for your work and your time,

This doesn't appear to be working with Gmail Labs's feature "Canned Responses." When I click on my canned responses, the text is all white, so with it against the white composing area, they're invisible, except when I hover over them.

I installed this for the first time. I like it.
I have noticed one unintended feature, however.
Google Gears is activated and the Lab function of appending my location at the
end of the email is turned on. This worked fine until I installed GR3.
Now, it still shows my correct location, however, the language it
shows it in is now Japanese.

That is quite a strange issue indeed, but it cannot be caused by Google Redesigned. Our extension only changes the look of Gmail, there is absolutely no way it is capable of making a change like this. You should contact Google support.

This is real nice. Visually it is better and easier to read or view. I have used older versions in the past and I like the improvements. But one particular useful feature of "Better Gmail 2" that I rely on ( Folders4Gmail ) does not work with this "Gmail Redesigned 3". There is no plus sign (+) to expand/collapse the parent folder. You can click on the folder and expand, showing the sub folders, but you can not collapse the folders and clicking on that parent folder ( to expand the sub folders ) also shows all the emails for that parent folder.

If they can get that fixed, I will re-install it.

This looks *amazing* and I really want to use it!

However, I don't use Firefox to access Gmail. I actually use an app called fluid (fluidapp.com) to create a site-specific-browser for Gmail, basically an icon for it on my dock.

Fluid supports custom user styles and user scripts (in the same format as the ones used by the Firefox extensions Stylish and Greasemonkey, respectively); any chance you could release Gmail Redesigned as just CSS and Javascript instead of in an extension? I can whip up a userstyle and userscript for Fluid and Firefox from there.

Your work is much appreciated =)
