About
Gmail Redesigned is a CSS Stylesheet for Google's Gmail service. It is a single file which is loaded locally overtop of the Gmail website to change its look and feel.
Gmail Redesigned is designed to work with the Newer and Older versions of Gmail and designed to work with any language currently supported by the service.
Gmail Redesigned is also available as part of the Better Gmail 2 extension, although it is not officially supported with the add-on scripts also available there. Even though we work closely with the developers of the Better Gmail 2 extension, we provide no guarantee that the version of the Redesigned style available via the extension will be the latest, stable version. If you wish to use the most up-to-date version of Gmail Redesigned, you should do so through the Installation instructions provided above.
This is an open source project, which means we welcome all suggestions, comments and bug reports. You can submit your feedback at the Gmail Redesigned Forums.
Globex Designs and Gmail Redesigned are not officially affiliated with Google or any Google products.
Installation
Gmail Redesigned comes pre-installed with the Google Redesigned extension. You do not need to install this style separately. Gmail Redesigned will be enabled by default in the extension.
If you wish to use the Gmail Redesigned without the Google Redesigned extension, you can use the Stylish extension instead. This is not recommended as you will be required to make regular, manual updates to the style and you maybe run into other issues with performance and compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions
Gmail Redesigned FAQQ: I don't understand, what is this?A: Gmail Redesigned is a userstyle for Gmail developed specifically for the Google Redesigned extension for the Firefox browser. The extension will load CSS code over top of Gmail to change the look of that website. The userstyle doesn't actually change any Gmail code or change the behavior of the website. It can only change the appearance of the website you are browsing from that particular computer where the extension is installed.
Q: Why doesn't your theme work with my Firefox extensions and/or other userstyles?A: Gmail Redesigned was created to work with the default Gmail interface and any official addons which Google has released. At this time, we've added support for a couple of userscripts and extensions (eg. Remember the Milk). Although we do not support userscripts with the style, if there is enough demand from our users - we may add support for your userscript.
Q: How do I get this style to work on Internet Explorer, Opera or Safari?A: Gmail Redesigned is designed for the Google Redesigned Firefox add-on. It only works on Mozilla browsers (Firefox, Flock, etc...). It is possible that the style can be made to work with Opera and Safari if someone out there creates a special add-on for those browsers. At this time I'm not aware that any exist. Gmail Redesigned will definitely not work on any version of Internet Explorer. Globex Designs recognizes that Firefox is the best browser for the web and encourages everyone to switch to it (http://www.getfirefox.com). As well, a lot of the style uses CSS code specific to Gecko browsers which will be incompatible with others.
Q: Does it work with Firefox 2, or Flock 1?A: Yes, however we strongly recommend using Firefox 3 or Flock 2 because of the superior javascript and CSS improvements in those browsers. Your Gmail experience will be much faster.
Q: It seems like everytime I press "Check for Style Updates" there is an update available for Gmail Redesigned, but when I update I don't notice any changes. What's going on?A: Gmail Redesigned issues very frequent updates to correct bugs and stay up-to-date with Google's Gmail improvements, a lot of the time updates will include minor fixes which you may not notice. It is a good idea to check for updates fairly often as the style is constantly being worked on and improved.
Q: I just upgraded to the latest version and now I'm seeing certain things broken, or images aren't showing up.A: This is a problem with the cache. The first thing you want to try and do is disable and then re-enable the style. If that doesn't help, clear all your browser's cache and restart Gmail. If that doesn't help. Clear the cache and restart the browser. If none of that helps, it's possible that you've found a new bug and you should report it using the Submit Bug Report.
Q: Can you please remove the ads that show up in the emails?A: No. Globex Designs recognizes that Gmail is an amazing, free service which gets all of its revenue from advertisements. As such, we support Google and Google Ads in order to show our support for the service.
Q: I would like to create a new Gmail skin and use this as a reference template. Can you make the image sets available for developers?A: The images for the style are the only things that Globex Designs reserves to themselves. You can of course manually download them all from their respected URLs or from the URI strings. However, we reserve the sole rights of those images (excluding all images created by Google of course)
Q: I'm trying to edit your style to my liking, but it's all one long line. Is there an easier way to edit it?A: Globex Designs releases a developer's version specifically for this reason. You can select it from the type of download. It has proper spacing, notation and comments.
Keep in mind that you should never be editing the original Gmail Redesigned files. If you want to make changes to the style, you should do so in a new userstyle and then load that new userstyle over top of Gmail Redesigned. This way you'll still be able to update the Gmail Redesigned style when bug fixes are released without losing your modifications.
Q: How do I uninstall the style?A: If you're using Stylish, go into the the Stylish "Manage Styles" settings. Select the Gmail Redesigned style and click on "Delete". If you're using Google Redesigned, you can disable the style by clicking on its name, or uninstall the extension.
Q: What can I do to help the project?Submit bug reports, feature requests, promote the style on your blog or website, tell your friends, send a Paypal donation, submit a Gmail feature request from Gmail's Help site which allows to load CSS themes so that everyone can start using Gmail Redesigned, email Google reps and ask them to hire me as the new lead Gmail designer.
Version 2.0.9
November 20, 2008
Patch fix for Google updates
Why are there different types?
Standard
This is the recommended version. It's the most compressed, fast-loading and speediest version. The code is minimal and it loads all the images from our secure server.
Embedded
Similar to the "Standard" version, this version has the same compresssion applied to it, but has all the image embedded directly in the file so that the browser doesn't need to download images from our servers. Use this version if you are worried about security and you are willing to compromise speed and performance. However we ensure that our images are fully secure, safe and will cause no harm to your computer.
Developer
This version has no compression applied to it what-so-ever,maintains its hierarchical structure and has development comments throughout the file for easy navigation and understanding of the different sections. Use this version if you wish to look at the source code, to make suggestions, corrections or to simply browser through the CSS. This version is not recommended for day-to-day use of the style as it is almost twice the size (half the performance speed) of the Standard version. The developer version will sometime host a more recent (beta) version of the style before it has been released as well.
